It's important to remember all of your family needs.
Some in your family may have allergies or sensitivities. There might be foods your family doesn't like. Do you know how to cook these foods?
There is no reason to store certain foods if your family has sensitivities or your family does not like what you have. Be mindful of your family needs when acquiring your food storage and use this as your base to build upon.

Suggested Amounts of Basic Food for Home Storage
Per Adult For One Year
Children (under 8) 60% of adult allotment
Start with these items in your food storage. These are the essential items to sustain life. Then, when you have stored enough of these items for a 1 year supply, begin to add other things.
